Sourcing standards

Every claim about safety, hygiene, milk storage, timing or child development carries a hyperlinked primary source, placed at the point of the claim rather than listed vaguely at the bottom of the page. A bare "according to the CDC" with nothing to click is not a citation, and we treat it as a failure.

The source hierarchy we use, in order:

1. Primary public-health and regulatory sources. The CDC on milk storage, cleaning and sanitizing feeding items and pump hygiene; the AAP on high chair safety and starting solids; the FDA on materials; the CPSC on recalls. These outrank everything else on the page.
2. Manufacturer specifications, for checkable product facts: materials, capacities, part counts, compatibility, available sizes.
3. Named independent testing, always attributed and always linked. We never present another outlet's hands-on testing as our own.
4. Aggregated owner feedback, described qualitatively only. We publish no rating or review count, because we collected none.

We also hold ourselves to four hard rules:

• We never state a number we did not source. No invented prices, star ratings, review counts, suction figures, decibel levels or capacities.
• We never cite a source we have not read.
• We never fabricate a quote or an attribution. There are no expert contributors on this site, so there are no expert quotes.
• We publish no testimonials. We have no verified reader reviews, and inventing some to fill a layout is not something we will do.

Credentials: what we claim, and what we never will

Bottle & Bib has one author, Ryder M., who is the owner and researcher behind this site. He is not a lactation consultant, IBCLC, nurse, dietitian, physician or child passenger safety technician, and this site will never imply that he is.

Phrases you will never find here: "our experts", "our team", "reviewed by experts", "medically reviewed", "our lactation consultants", or anything implying a clinical review board. Several competitors have genuine clinical credentials behind them; we do not, and borrowing the language without the substance would be a lie.

The clinical boundary

Infant feeding is health-adjacent, so this matters. Where a question is clinical, we say so plainly and stop:

• Low or falling supply
• Reflux, suspected allergies, or forceful vomiting
• Poor weight gain, or a baby refusing all feeds
• Pain that persists with a correctly fitted flange
• Tongue tie or oral-motor difficulties
• Choking risk with specific foods, and allergen introduction

On each of those the answer is a pediatrician or a lactation consultant, not a review site. We will describe what a product does. We will not diagnose a feeding problem or prescribe a protocol, even when we could write something plausible.

Independence

• No paid placement, no sponsored posts, no paid inclusion in any ranking. No manufacturer can buy a position on this site.
• No free-product-for-review arrangements at present. If that changes, the arrangement will be disclosed on the specific page and will not buy a favorable ranking.
• Commission rate is never a ranking input. Full detail on how we choose and our affiliate disclosure.
• No relationship with any brand we cover. We are not sponsored by, affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer mentioned on this site.

Correction policy

We correct errors promptly, and we note the correction on the page with its date. We do not silently edit a factual claim and pretend it always said that.

What counts as a correction rather than a routine update:

• A factual error about a product, a specification or a piece of guidance
• A misattributed source, or a claim whose source does not support it
• A recommendation that should not have been made

Routine updates — a product discontinued, a new model added, a ranking reordered — are reflected in the "Updated" date on the page rather than flagged as corrections.

Recalls and safety notices

Infant feeding and seating products are recalled with real regularity. We monitor CPSC recall notices and FDA notices, and our commitment is that a recalled product is removed from every recommendation on this site within 48 hours of us learning about it, with a dated note added to the affected page.

If you know of a recall we have missed, telling us is genuinely the highest-value message we can receive.

Update cadence

Every page displays a visible "Updated" date. A stale date is a signal to you and a prompt to us.

On AI and how these pages are written

Research and drafting tools are used in producing this site, as they are at most publishers now. What does not change: every factual claim is checked against the sources linked on the page, Ryder M. is accountable for what is published, and no source, quote, number or product is generated rather than verified. If a claim here cannot be traced to a source you can click, that is a fault and we want to hear about it.

Linking policy

We link out to primary sources freely and without conditions. Affiliate links are labeled with #ad, carry rel="sponsored nofollow", and route through our own redirect — all explained on the disclosure page. We do not sell links, and we do not accept payment for a link, a mention or a review.
