Privacy policy

Bottle & Bib ("we", "us") is published by Magoo Media Group. This policy explains what we collect when you use bottleandbib.com, and what we do not.

The short version

  • We do not require an account, and we do not run a newsletter or store a mailing list.
  • We collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about how pages are used, via Google Analytics.
  • If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive what you typed and your email address, so we can reply.
  • Affiliate links pass through our own redirect and then to Amazon, which applies its own cookies and privacy policy.
  • We do not sell personal data. Ever.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which recommendations they find useful. It records things like the pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not create advertising profiles.

We also record an event when an affiliate link is clicked, so we know which recommendations are useful. That event records the merchant, the destination link and the page it was clicked from — not anything about you personally.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you selected and your message. We use them only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct a page. The message is delivered to our own inbox by email; we do not add you to any list, and we do not use your address for marketing.

The form includes basic anti-spam measures: a hidden field that only automated scripts fill in, a check on how quickly the form was submitted, and a per-IP submission limit. These process only technical signals from the submission itself.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs of requests, including IP addresses, for security and reliability purposes. We do not mine them for anything else.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts, passwords or user profiles — there is nothing to log into.
  • No newsletter list.
  • No payment information. We sell nothing; purchases happen at the retailer.
  • No health data about you or your baby. We do not ask, and please do not send any.
  • No advertising retargeting pixels from ad networks.

Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish between sessions and visitors. Our own affiliate redirect does not set a tracking cookie of its own; Amazon sets its own cookies when you arrive there, under Amazon's privacy notice.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works fine without any cookies at all.

Product links on this site route through bottleandbib.com/go/... and then to Amazon with our affiliate tag attached. That lets Amazon attribute a purchase to us so we earn a commission. What Amazon does with your data once you are on their site is governed by their policy, not ours. The commercial side of this is explained on our affiliate disclosure page.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent personal data. The only third parties involved in running this site are our hosting provider, Google Analytics, and Microsoft's email service for delivering contact-form messages. Each processes data on our behalf for the purpose described above.

How long we keep things

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' configured retention period. Contact-form messages are kept in our inbox for as long as they are useful for replying to you or correcting a page, and deleted when they are not.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little — essentially contact-form correspondence — such requests are usually simple to honor. Email contact@bottleandbib.com and we will respond.

Children

This site is written for parents and carers, not for children, and it is not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We write about babies; we collect nothing about yours, and you should not send us identifying details about your child.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so here plainly rather than burying it.
